Psychology Careers at Early Bird Therapy

Our psychologists support children, young people, and families with assessments, counselling, parent support, group programs, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Autism, ADHD, cognitive, learning, and developmental assessments form an important part of the role, alongside counselling, parent training, and therapeutic supports.

We work primarily with autistic children and children with developmental differences.

A typical week might include assessment sessions, counselling appointments, parent consultations, report writing, multidisciplinary planning, and collaboration with schools, childcare services, and

No two psychologists at Early Bird have exactly the same role.

More Than One Type of Psychology

Many psychology roles focus on a single area of practice.

At Early Bird, psychologists may be involved in assessments, counselling, parent support, group programs, and parent training.

Some psychologists enjoy working across all of these areas, while others prefer to focus more heavily on particular aspects of the role.

Wherever possible, we work with clinicians to create a balance that aligns with their interests, strengths, and professional goals.

We trust our clinicians to bring their own professional judgement, expertise, and interests to their work.

Part of a Multidisciplinary Team

Psychology at Early Bird doesn't sit in isolation.

Psychologists work alongside Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Therapy Assistants, and our administration team every day. If you're used to working in a psychology-only environment, the multidisciplinary nature of the team is often one of the biggest differences clinicians notice.

Support for Every Stage of Your Career

Whether you're an early-career psychologist or an experienced clinician, you'll have access to regular supervision, professional development, and support from an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Supervision arrangements are tailored to individual requirements, registration pathways, and professional goals.

Psychologists are supported to access external supervision with a psychologist of their choosing, allowing them to find a supervisor whose expertise and approach best align with their areas of practice and professional development goals.

We also provide regular consultation and opportunities for multidisciplinary discussion and case review within the team.

We provide a generous professional development budget and encourage psychologists to pursue learning opportunities that align with their interests and areas of practice.

As an organisation, we prioritise people over profit. We're not interested in unrealistic productivity targets or rushing clinicians through their development. Our focus is on building a team that can provide high-quality support to children and families over the long term.

Interested in Joining Our Team?

We're currently well staffed, however exceptional clinicians are hard to find.

If Early Bird sounds like the kind of place where you would enjoy working, we'd love to hear from you. Whether you're a registered psychologist or Educational and Developmental Psychologist, we welcome expressions of interest.

Both part-time and full-time opportunities may be available. While we have a preference for clinicians working three or more days per week, we are open to discussing arrangements from two days per week for the right person.
